I worked for 7 years in the UCLA Dept. of Pathology. During that time, the head of Cytology left for a higher paying position at an east coast medical school. One of the doctors I worked for was asked to replace her. I must remark that all the people I worked for in the department were women. They were considered better equipped mentally to evaluate diagnostic slides. Cytology requires having many diagnostic possibilities. For example, a diseased lung cell might have been incised from the liver. Mentally, women could bring into focus many possibilities at the same time. Multi-tasking, if you. So, you would have thought women pathologists would be more valuable than the male staff. And, more to the point, women were used to managing a family, tasks center around the home, as well as managing their careers. To get to the point of my comment: we found out that the doctor I worked for had replaced her predecessor for less money. Although both women had the same level of training, degree, length of service in the department, etc. A higher amount had been promised to the replacement doctor in a letter, but it was the nature of the doctor to focus on the work and not her pay check. When, I found out about this inequity, I encouraged her to fight for what was promised. What was hers. When the raise and back money owed came through, she took her entire family on a biking trip through southern France.

not true women are better at multitasking. there are lot chess grandmasters who can play several games at a time and can recall every pieces-positions on multiple boards. multitasking with concentration!. that's a true multitasker. there are also mostly guys gamers playing real-time strategic games at high level which needs to coordinates a LOT of events.

thing is, men dont like to multitask not because they cant multitask. it just women are more talkative, so every job they do, they tend to insert chit-chat in the middle hence conditioning their mind to multitask. they like to think they are better but truth is they are not. they are just more used to it.

i just highlight those two examples at the highest level of those intensive multitasking activities, guess which genders excel there. men used to hunt. they too have to do alot of things like diversion, preparing, ambushing, bonding, premeditating a murder of rival, while chasing the food target. those are also multitasking.

What you describe is exactly how my brain works. I know if I wait long enough, the answer seems to slowly emerge out of the depths of the matrix.

I had no idea. Thanks for this post. As a holistic healthcare practitioner I help people eliminate PTSD in minutes--as was done for me following an attack and life-altering brain injury. I feel it's criminal that mainstream medicine ignores all the alternatives out there leaving people to suffer such trauma.

PTSD cannot be described or imagined by anyone who has ot gone through it.

Women take on so much more than many people realize. I find others see us as rocks able to withstand pressure OR as people who just do not matter so much.

Thank you for this post and for your informative site.

Thank you for posting this Joyce. I've worked with both men and women suffering from PTSD symptoms, some of whom weren't in active service. I recognise many of the points you make but am most surprised at the recovery times. Perhaps this is, in part, due to the methodology being offered to them.

I hope that giving the facts their due recognition, the female soldiers get the help they need.
